Come Join Us on Sunday for the annual Walk for My Brother’s Table along King’s Beach, Lynn Beach and more!
My Brother’s Table is the largest soup kitchen on the North Shore. As the number of families and individuals needing a daily, hot nutritious meal steadily increases, the Walkathon is an important fundraiser this year more than ever.
The walk takes place along three miles of the scenic Lynn and Swampscott oceanfront. “It’s a fun event for everyone,” says Mary Magner, Associate Director at My Brother’s Table. “We have walkers from all over the North Shore, including individuals and teams from local churches and temples, schools and businesses. As we are expecting to serve more meals this year, it is important to note that more than 95 percent of the money raised directly benefits the guests of My Brother’s Table.” To ensure the privacy of its guests, My Brother’s Table receives no government assistance, is not a United Way affiliate, and depends on private and corporate donations to feed those in need.
FIVE Reasons why you should support the MBT Walk-A-Thon.
OR FIVE Reasons why people should give you their hard-earned money!
1. MBT is the largest soup kitchen on the North Shore,
feeding between 200 and 300 people 365 days a year.
2. MBT feeds the hungry and serves all who come in need regardless of race, color, creed or sex.
3. More than 95 cents of every dollar MBT collects from the walk goes towards our feeding program.
4. MBT receives no government funding or United Way support. This policy preserves the dignity of ourguests by respecting their privacy. It alsomeans that without this walk, we would be unable to fulfill our mission. That is why we need your help!
5. MBT is involved in outreach activities including supper clubs for seniors, meal delivery programs, and much more.
And it’s a fun event! There are refreshments and prizes for everyone.
What To Do Before the Walk
Tell everyone you know about the walk and encourage them to call MBT at (781) 595.3224 for a sponsor sheet. Ask you friends, relatives, classmates, co-workers and neighbors to give you a donation for the 3-mile walk. Remember to collect money from the sponsor at that time. Have your sponsors sign your sheet and fill in the amount they are donating. You may make copies of this form if you think you have more than 25 sponsors.
Teamwork Works
Teams from schools, churches, temples, businesses and clubs help make the walk a big success. This year there will be prizes for the largest team and for the team that raises the most amount of money.
It’s easy to organize a team, just get a group of your friends to walk. If you need extra sponsor sheets, email: mary@www.mybrotherstable.org, call Mary at (781) 595.3224, or make copies of this sheet online.
